Connie Book is the ninth president of Elon University. Previously, she was a faculty member for 16 years. Book became president of the university four years ago in 2018. As president of the university, Book focused on launching the Boldly Elon 10-year strategic plan and the Elon LEADS campaign. His office is located in the Powell Building. She is often spotted on campus, such as on a walk or at College Coffee.

Jon Dooley, Vice President for Student Life

Jon Dooley’s name often pops up in student inboxes. As Vice President for Student Life, Dooley emails students extensively with a variety of relevant information, from weekly community health updates to local crime and safety issues. He oversees the Office of Student Life, which covers many departments and centers on campus. In addition to this role, Dooley is an education teacher.

Jeff Stein, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives

As head of Elon’s COVID-19 response, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives Jeff Stein has become a well-known figure over the past two years. Stein, also an English professor, oversees various initiatives on campus. He leads the implementation of the Boldly Elon strategic plan and works with numerous offices on campus, such as the Center for Student Professional Development and Cultural and Special Programs.

Jana Lynn Patterson, Dean of Students

Dean of Students Jana Lynn Patterson supports students with a variety of opportunities, services, and experiences. Patterson has worked at Elon since 1986 and is known to many as “Dean P.” The Office of the Dean of Students is a resource for students in areas such as health and wellness, caregiving, and outreach.

Rodney Parks, University Registrar

Rodney Parks is the university’s registrar, helping to maintain student records and course registration. The Registrar’s Office is where students can go to request transcripts and course changes. Parks also emails students recommending courses that meet various requirements.

Randy Williams, Vice President and Associate Dean for Inclusive Excellence

Randy Williams serves as Chief Diversity Officer in his role as Vice President and Associate Provost for Inclusive Excellence. Williams works directly with Book and helps guide Elon’s diversity, equity and inclusion goals. He is also an education teacher.

Sylvia Muñoz, Director of CREDE

As director of the Center for Race, Ethnicity and Diversity Education, Sylvia Muñoz works to create a supportive environment for students of color and has led university efforts to increase equity on campus. His office is at CREDE on the Moseley floor, a center open to all students. She also created El Centro, the Spanish language center on campus.

Kristin Boswell, university chaplain

Kristin Boswell is the university’s chaplain and dean of multifaith engagement. Its role is to guide students in their religious faith and to facilitate religious and educational experiences. It is there to serve the whole community, whatever its religion.
