HAYS, Kan- COVID-19 fundamentally changed education in America. Digital literacy, the ability to take advantage of powerful learning technologies, is now an essential skill for teachers, administrators and learning technologists. Beginning in spring 2021, Fort Hays State University’s Advanced Educational Programs Department will welcome its first class of growing educators and educational administrators to the new Honors Education Postgraduate Program (Ed.S .) with a concentration in digital leadership.
Now more than ever, teachers, trainers and leaders at all levels of education must take advantage of emerging technologies and digital best practices that can overcome the time and distance challenges created by the global pandemic. Said Dr Kim Chappell, who led program development at the College of Education at FHSU.
This forward-looking program is designed to develop leaders with the leadership skills essential to transform the digital culture of any educational organization. Graduates of the program will be ready to create professional opportunities and advance in their role as a leader in digital technologies.
Education and academic technology administrators, as well as principals and superintendents, can all benefit from this fully online, interdisciplinary program. The main areas of interest of the program are teaching, instructional design, computer science and learning technologies. The program will be primarily delivered through a series of flexible 4-week courses and one credit hour in the fall, spring and summer. Internships and research courses are offered in 16-week sessions.
