MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – SHARP Literacy has expanded its education program to 49 urban schools across Milwaukee, Racine and Waukesha in response to the needs of students in the community.
The expansion is another milestone for SHARP, reaching more students than ever in a record number of schools, officials said on Tuesday, September 26.
SHARP’s comprehensive program in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) – integrated programs and hands-on learning experiences have been implemented both in person and in virtual / hybrid mode for thousands of kindergarten to grade 5 students on Monday.
“Our strong partnerships with educators have paved the way for this huge expansion of our program,” said Lynda Kohler, President and CEO of SHARP Literacy. “As we continue to face the regression of COVID learning, we are working hand-in-hand with principals and educators to provide more students with STEAM-based educational programs that not only meet their academic needs, but also to the critical social and emotional aspects of their learning.In collaboration with the educators, we look at the child as a whole and give him every chance to succeed.
SHARP LiteracyThe 2021/2022 curriculum includes new social and emotional learning (SEL) skills and an expanded design-by-code curriculum, officials said. STEAM is incorporated into study programs based on SHARP We love to learn books and include in-person and virtual educational tours.
Kindergarten to Grade 5 students will participate in workshops and tours that engage them in a variety of creative and innovative ways, according to a press release.
